don't buy it, make it.
I feel bad for anyone who shops with me. Really bad. Besides all the other quirks I have when buying something (ex. don't take the first item on the shelf), I have this tendency to look at certain things and out comes the "why buy it, when I can make it".
Realistically, I rarely rush home and 'make it'. Recently though, I was going through my beauty care items and came across my sugar body scrub. Of course half the ingredients I couldn't even pronounce. What gives? Then out came the "why am I buying this when I can make it"? So I jumped on the internet and started looking up sugar scrubs. They are everywhere! Natural being the way to go these days, everyone has instructions on how to make your own. So I did.
3 ingredients, I had right in my kitchen. Olive oil, brown sugar and coconut emulsion. I mixed them using no particular measurements, just the amount was going to use. I started with the brown sugar and added the olive oil a little at a time until I was happy with the consistency. Then enough of coconut emulsion to cut out the olive oil scent. Nobody wants to walk around smelling like salad dressing. I'm not a huge fan of the coconut scent, but it's what I had. I'll probably try an essential oil next time. I did try using plain sugar at first but it was pretty abrasive and the brown sugar made it gentle enough to use on my face.
I am loving this stuff! I've been using it every other day for about a month. I have pretty dry but very sensitive skin and I have had no bad reactions. My skin is completely smooth and soft. I even get to put it in my own pretty jar, no plastic to throw away. That's pretty much rules for me!

let the randomness begin.
Just a simple girl doing the things I love, my way. Usually that means a lot of trial and error. My days are filled and inspired by art, crafts, music, design, photography, and fashion. My life is run by two Bostons and learning new things.
